Frequently Asked Questions About Mattresses, Furniture, and Sleep
Have a question about mattresses, furniture, delivery, or getting a better night's sleep? We've put together answers to some of the questions we hear most often at All Sleep. Whether you're shopping for a new mattress, looking for a recliner or lift chair, or simply trying to figure out why you're not sleeping comfortably, we're here to help.
Delivery & Removal
How much does delivery cost from All Sleep?
For our local customers, delivery is free. We want getting your new mattress or furniture home to be as easy as possible.
If you're outside our normal local delivery area or there are special circumstances, we'll explain any applicable charges before you make your purchase. We don't believe in surprising you with delivery charges after the fact.
Does All Sleep remove my old mattress or furniture?
Yes. We can remove your old mattress when we deliver your new one, so you don't have to figure out what to do with it yourself. State-required mattress recycling fees may apply.
We also offer furniture removal for $25 per seat when applicable. We'll explain the removal cost before your delivery.
Mattress Shopping
How do I find the right mattress at All Sleep?
We make mattress shopping simpler by starting with five comfort choices , ranging from firmer to softer.
Rather than trying to compare dozens of mattresses at once, you can lie down on the five choices and figure out which level of comfort feels best to you. Once we know what you like, we can narrow down the choices and show you mattresses that fit your preference.
Don't feel pressured to know everything about mattress construction before you come in. You know your body best. Try them, find what feels comfortable, and decide for yourself what feels right.
Why does All Sleep use five comfort choices when shopping for a mattress?
There are a lot of different mattresses, and comfort is personal. Our five comfort choices give you a simple place to start.
A mattress can be soft and still provide excellent support, just as a firmer mattress isn't automatically more supportive. What we're really looking for is the combination of comfort and support that feels right for you.
Once you find the comfort level you prefer, shopping becomes much less overwhelming.
What types of mattresses does All Sleep carry?
We carry a wide variety of mattresses because there isn't one type that's right for everyone. Our showroom includes innerspring , memory foam , hybrid , latex , two-sided mattresses, and waterbeds.
We carry national brands including Tempur-Pedic, Sealy, Serta, Bedgear, DreamCloud, and Puffy, along with furniture brands such as Ashley and Best Home Furnishings. We also carry local brands, including Gold Bond, who have been making mattresses in Hartford, Connecticut, for 4Â generations.
Our mattresses are on display and available for you to test-rest in the store.
Can I try mattresses at All Sleep before I buy one?
Absolutely. We encourage you to take your time and try the mattresses in the store.
Lie down in your normal sleeping position. Spend a little time on each mattress and pay attention to how your body feels. A mattress can sound great on paper and still not feel right to you.
That's one of the advantages of shopping at a local mattress store: you can actually test-rest the mattress before you buy it.
What if I've had a bad experience mattress shopping somewhere else?
If you've ever walked into a mattress store and felt pressured to make a decision before you were ready, we understand why you might be hesitant to do it again.
At All Sleep, we take a different approach. We'll give you as much space and as much time as you need to test-rest the mattresses. We're happy to answer questions and help you compare your choices, but there's no pressure to hurry.
We want you to leave feeling confident that you made the right choice for you, not wondering if you should have tried one more mattress.
Mattresses, Pillows, Sheets & Sleep Systems
Do I really need a new pillow if I'm upgrading my mattress?
It's worth considering. Your mattress and pillow work together, so changing your mattress can change the way your body is supported while you sleep.
The pillow you've been using for years may have been working with your old mattress, but it may not be the right match for your new one. We look at your sleeping position and make sure your pillow is providing the right support for your neck.
A good sleep system isn't just about what's underneath you. It's also about what's supporting your head.
How do I choose the right sheets?
Different people want different things from their sheets . Some people want something cool and breathable. Others prefer something soft and cozy, while some people like the crisp feel of traditional sheets.
We also carry sheets designed to make making the bed easier and stay securely in place without constantly popping off the corners.
We'll help you find sheets based on the feel you prefer and the way you like to sleep.
Do I need a mattress protector?
We recommend protecting your mattress. A good mattress protector can help protect your investment from spills, moisture, and everyday wear.
We carry different types of protectors, so we can help you choose one based on what matters most to you, whether that's cooling, easy washing, or everyday protection.
A mattress, pillow, sheets, and protector all work together, which is why we look at the complete sleep system, not just the mattress.
Does All Sleep sell adjustable beds?
Yes. Most of the mattresses on display at All Sleep are on adjustable bases , so you can actually try them in the store.
An adjustable base allows you to raise your head, elevate your legs, and find different positions for sleeping, reading, or watching television. The experience can be very different from simply looking at an adjustable base in a picture, so we encourage you to try one.
Common Sleep Questions
Why does my neck hurt when I wake up?
There can be many reasons for back discomfort, and a mattress isn't always the answer. But if your back feels worse when you wake up and improves as you move around during the day, it may be time to take a closer look at your mattress.
The goal isn't simply to find the firmest mattress possible. A supportive mattress can be soft, medium, or firm. What matters is finding the right combination of comfort and support for your body.
Why don't I feel rested when I wake up in the morning?
There are many reasons you might not feel rested, and your mattress isn't necessarily the cause. Sleep habits, stress, your sleep schedule, and other factors can all affect how rested you feel.
But your mattress and pillow are worth considering, especially if you sleep for enough hours but still wake up feeling uncomfortable or tired.
If you're tossing and turning, waking up frequently, or spending the night trying to get comfortable, your sleep system may be part of the problem.

Why is my bed hot when IÂ sleep?
Some mattresses and bedding materials retain more heat than others. Your sheets, mattress protector, mattress materials, and even your sleeping environment can all affect how warm you feel at night.
If you tend to sleep hot, we can show you mattresses, sheets, and other bedding options designed with temperature and airflow in mind.
Sometimes the solution isn't simply buying a different mattress. Your entire sleep system can affect how warm you sleep.
Recliners, Sofas & Lift Chairs
Does All Sleep sell more than mattresses?
Yes! All Sleep has a complete living-room section with recliners , sofas , lift chairs , and other living-room furniture.
So while you're here shopping for a mattress, take a look around. You may be surprised by how much more than mattresses you'll find at All Sleep.
What's the best chair if I'm unsteady on my feet?
If you're unsteady on your feet or have difficulty getting up from a chair, a lift chair can make getting to your feet easier. Lift chairs are designed to help bring you to a standing position while also providing comfortable seating when you're sitting.
At All Sleep, we carry lift chairs in different sizes, styles, and configurations, and we'll help you find one that fits you comfortably.
The best way to know whether a chair is right for you is to sit in it and try it yourself.
How do I find the right recliner or living-room furniture?
The right chair should feel comfortable when you're actually sitting in it, not just look good in the showroom.
When you're trying a recliner or other seating, pay attention to the seat height and depth, how your feet rest on the floor, how your back is supported, and where the headrest sits.
The best way to find the right chair is to sit in it and see how it feels.
About All Sleep
Does All Sleep still sell waterbeds?
Absolutely. And we're proud of that.
All Sleep started as a waterbed store in 1974, and waterbeds have been part of our business ever since. We still have a waterbed on display, stock waterbeds and waterbed parts, and plan to continue carrying them.
Waterbeds are part of our history, and they're part of our future, too.
Why should I shop at All Sleep?
All Sleep has been helping people in Eastern Connecticut sleep and live more comfortably since 1974, and the owner, Joshua, has been working here since 2001.
We've built our business by taking care of our customers and helping them find what actually works for them. Our staff has years of experience, and we don't believe you should need a computer, an algorithm, or a salesperson pushing you toward a particular mattress.
We'd rather listen to what you're looking for, answer your questions, let you try things for yourself, and help you make a decision you're comfortable with.
That's the way we've done business for more than 50 years, and that's the way we plan to keep doing it.
